💡Polishing Grinding vs. Ordinary Grinding - What's the Real Difference?
In many production lines, we often hear the terms "grinding" and "polishing grinding".
But what exactly makes them different?
At Titan Industrial Ceramics, we work with both applications every day - from coarse material grinding in mining to fine polishing in electronic and chemical industries. Here's a simple comparison 👇
🔹 Ordinary Grinding
Focus: Size reduction - turning big particles into smaller ones
Typical media: Medium or large alumina grinding balls (20–60 mm)
Process: High-impact, low-speed grinding
Used in: Mining, cement, and raw material processing
🔹 Polishing (Fine) Grinding
Focus: Surface perfection and precision - making small particles smoother and more uniform
Typical media: Small zirconia or ZTA ceramic beads (0.1–5 mm)
Process: Low-impact, high-speed shearing and dispersion
Used in: Battery materials, coatings, ceramics, pharmaceuticals, electronic slurries
In short, ordinary grinding is about "making big particles smaller," while polishing grinding is about "making small particles better."
At Titan, we supply a full range of alumina and zirconia grinding media to suit both applications - helping our clients achieve higher efficiency, better surface quality, and longer equipment life.
