Zirconia beads are now a common abrasive for material dispersion and grinding. At present, the grinding of lithium iron phosphate, MLCC, coatings, positive and negative electrodes of lithium batteries and carbon black all rely on zirconia beads.
For example, 0.1mm zirconia beads can be ground to 0.1 microns, or 100 nm, 0.05mm zirconia beads can be ground to 0.05 microns, or 50 nm, and the smallest is 0.03 mm, or 30 nm. This is a good thing for inkjet water, the risk of clogging during printing is greatly reduced. Therefore, for many substances, finer grinding means improved performance.
Zirconia beads are also divided into different types.
1. According to the ingredients
1. Zirconium silicate beads
Zirconium silicate beads are slightly yellow, and the price is relatively lower than other types of zirconia beads. Due to the high silicon content, the cost is relatively low.
The content of zirconia is 65%, the content of silicon oxide is 35%-39%, and the volume specific gravity is low, which is 2.6g/cm3
The typical size of zirconium silicate microbeads is 0.6-15mm.
Application industry: grinding of gold, silver, nickel, zinc, lead ore, paints, coatings, pigments and inks, heavy calcium, zirconium silicate and titanium dioxide.
2. Zirconium-aluminum composite microbeads
Alumina is added to the zirconium-aluminum composite microbeads, wherein the content of zirconia is about 35%, and the content of alumina is 50%-60%.
The density is as high as 5g/cm3 and the volume specific gravity is 3.1g/cm3
Advantages: When grinding heavy calcium, the whiteness is significantly improved.
2. According to the type of stabilizer
Because the process of making zirconia balls is like making dumplings, the flour itself is sticky with water and can be directly kneaded into balls. However, if it's a sand ball, no matter how rubbed it is, it won't take shape.
However, if some mud is added, the sand can be ground into a shape, but the main function is "sand", so how to control the proportion of mud is the most important. More impact on performance, less impact on ball.
Yttrium stabilized zirconia beads
It is also known as 95 zirconia beads. After industrial tests, 5% yttrium oxide is used as a stabilizer to assist the formation of zirconia, and the content of zirconia should be as high as possible for stronger performance. Finally, it was found that the maximum content of zirconia can reach 95%, and the remaining 5% is used
as a stabilizing material. After sintering, it is found that its performance is better than other types of zirconium beads, and it meets the requirements in terms of wear, chipping, hardness and toughness, and has superior performance.
application:
Coatings, textiles, magnetic materials (Fe3O4, etc.), medicine, video, cosmetics, structural ceramics, electronic ceramics and other fields of application are widely and basically covered.
2. Cerium stabilized zirconia beads.
The zirconia microbeads with cerium oxide as stabilizer have high density and are widely used in the grinding of high-viscosity materials such as papermaking, chemical industry, pesticides, and fuels.
