Press molding
This is a common forming method of ceramic large-size grinding medium. It mainly includes dry pressing (powder containing water or additives of 3% - 7%) and isostatic pressing (powder containing water or additives of less than 3%). Dry press molding has the characteristics of convenient and simple operation method, less technology and capital investment, but the internal distribution of the blank is inconsistent due to the uneven pressure distribution, which affects the comprehensive performance of the product. In order to improve the density of the blank, the method of increasing the pressure is often used in actual production. However, the higher the pressure, the better. When the limit pressure is exceeded, the pressure will reduce the green density, which is caused by spalling. The green body formed by isostatic pressing has high strength, high density and uniformity, and can prepare high-performance and high-quality grinding medium balls. Therefore, two methods can be used to produce high-performance ceramic balls in industry.
Brief description of the process: powder and various auxiliaries are mixed and sprayed and granulated. Then the powder is added into the metal mould to be preformed into balls. Then the stripper after being processed is processed by cold isostatic pressing to obtain the billet. The high density produced by the process, the high density of ceramic balls and good quality are obtained. Isostatic pressing method has large investment in processing equipment and high post-treatment cost. It is generally used to produce large-size high-quality grinding medium balls with diameter greater than 10mm.
